Help Your Child Build Character Skills And Stay Prepared For Any Challenge With Our Kids Martial Arts Classes
Since its insertion in the local community in June of 2007, our Kids Jiu-Jitsu Program has worked with over 900 children from 4 to 15-year-olds. We are proud to say that the vast majority of these kids who averaged two classes per week for the period of at least one year, has had tremendous success in improving their social, athletic, self-defense and academic skills. Our training is not about winning or losing. It is about mind, body and spirit development. The development of awareness and preparedness.
Our Kids Jiu-Jitsu Classes Use The Skills Of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu To Keep Students Confident And Strong
In our programs, we instill in our students the qualities that will help them throughout their lives. Through the principles of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, our students learn that respect, discipline, dedication, humility, focus, hard work and effort always make for a rewarding experience and bring positive results.
At Crosley Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, our Kids Jiu-Jitsu classes introduce students to the fundamentals of the discipline, including standing skills like:
- Rear choke and bear-hug escapes
- Shirt and wrist grabs
- Defense against kicks and punches
PLUS ground skills like:
- Escapes and reversals
- Chokes and joint locks
With Our Kids Jiu-Jitsu Classes, Your Child Will Have The Tools To Face Down Any Bully Or Challenge
We train our children to carry themselves with honor and confidence. We teach them the necessary tools to resolve a confrontation with verbal assertiveness, but if the confrontation becomes physical, they are able to control the situation and defend themselves without hurting their attacker. This is one of the main differences between Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and most forms of martial arts out there, the ability to control someone without the use of a single strike. The confidence acquired from continued training also allow our students to step up and address a bully when he or she is praying for someone else.
We teach our children to be verbally assertive, speak with conviction and always display a confident posture when talking to someone (back straight, shoulders back, eye contact, etc...)
Although these rules make it simple to address such common issue these days, none of this will work without consistent training. What gives the children the capacity and confidence to stand up for themselves is the number of hours spent on the mat.
When it comes to bullies, we teach students to follow 5 simple rules:
- Rule # 1: Avoid fighting at all costs.
- Rule # 2: If physically attacked defend yourself.
- Rule # 3: If verbally attacked follow the T-steps: Talk (to the bully respectfully and assertively to stop), Tell (your parent and teacher/principal that you already addressed the bully), Tackle (the bully, mentally first, then physically, if necessary).
- Rule # 4: Never punch or kick the bully, instead, establish control and negotiate (“are you gonna knock it off if I let you go?").
- Rule # 5: When applying submissions, use minimal force and negotiate. The goal isn't to hurt the bully.
Your child will be more confident and prepared than ever to keep themselves and their friends safe in any situation.
