Feeling too old for Jiu-Jitsu?
Six years ago yesterday (06/14/17), then 8-year-old Calleigh was enrolled in the Youth Jiu-Jitsu Program by her Grandma Candy.
Since then, Candy has become one of the most frequently seen faces in the school as Calleigh participates in EVERY extra-curricular activity we host, such as our annual Summer Camps and individual lessons, and rarely misses a group class.
Such commitment has earned Calleigh an unprecedented Highest Attendance Award for four years in a row.
Now at 14, and having been part of three different Youth Programs (Beginners 8-11 yo, Kids Black Belt Club, and the 12-14 yo), Calleigh was recently moved up to the Adult Program.
This past Tuesday, Grandma enrolled Calleigh in our 8-week No-Gi Camp to get extra training and learn the No-Gi curriculum.
While praising Calleigh to Candy that day for her dedication, Candy joked around that she should join Calleigh in the 16-class course. Or was she joking?
Regardless, that was all I needed to hear!
After a little push, Candy joined the class tonight, drilled for one hour with her granddaughter Calleigh, and maintained a smile on her face the entire time!
What a special moment this was!
We salute you, Candy, for being such a supportive Grandma, for your ultra-positive attitude, and for stepping up and challenging yourself!
