Congratulations, Emmett Barbier! August 2024’s Student of the Month!

At just 11 years old, Emmett Barbier has become a familiar face at our Academy. His interactions span across all classes and even reach parents.

With over six years of training, he has dedicated more than half his life to the training, starting in the 4-6 year old class in 2018. His inquisitive mind was evident from the start, and he’s always ready to engage with the instructors.

Oftentimes, before class, Emmett will have a group of students around him, and he educates them on various topics, such as galaxies and black holes.

Emmett progressed to the 6-8 year-old class and later transitioned to the 8-11 year-old class. Last year, he was invited to the Kids Black Belt Club.

Emmett is a classic example of what happens when you keep showing up and trust the process. He has made so much progress year after year with not only his technique but also his confidence, his ability to receive coaching and be a good teammate.

Emmett is now seeing the benefits of all the years of training. He’s able to express his creative mind through the art of Jiu-Jitsu. He can mix it up with the best and is viscerally excited when it’s time to do matches. He’s always up for a challenge and prefers to train with students who have a higher skill level.
