This year, for the first time in our history, the Student of the Year award is being shared by two exceptional individuals. Lucero and Sebastian’s dedication, growth, and perseverance made it impossible to choose just one.

Both students exemplify the values of our academy: consistency, effort, courage, and coachability. They step onto the mat with determination, even when faced with fear or hesitation, and consistently push themselves to new heights.

Their positive attitudes, trust in their instructors, and willingness to help and inspire fellow students make them true role models in our community.

Training Experience: Over 2 years

Lucero is the youngest of four siblings, with her older brother, Assistant Instructor Antonio Fortier, playing a significant role in her journey.

Antonio has supported her since her very first class, and their bond is a source of strength for Lucero. She has gained remarkable confidence on and off the mat, fueled by her family’s encouragement—especially her mother, Claudia Hernandez.

This Winter Belt Ceremony is a special milestone for their family, as Lucero received the prestigious Student of the Year award, and her mom earned her Blue Belt. Together, they inspire each other to achieve more. Respect to this incredible duo!

Training Experience: Over 2 years

Sebastian continues to improve with each class, embodying the resilience and confidence Jiu-Jitsu instills. Known for his kind spirit, he approaches challenges with determination, even on days of uncertainty.

His dedication is evident—not only does he attend classes three times a week, but he also completed an impressive 30 hours of additional training during our Summer Camp.

Sebastian’s journey has also inspired his father, Nikolaos, to begin his own Jiu-Jitsu training. Together, they motivate one another, building confidence and connection through their shared practice. A true testament to how Jiu-Jitsu strengthens both individuals and families.
