Following his senior year, Preston enrolled at Napa Valley College earning an Administration of Justice degree. He graduated from the Napa Valley College Police Academy in 1996.

In 1997, Preston accepted a position as a police officer with the city of Antioch California. He was a police officer with Antioch PD for over 16 years. During that time he performed numerous duties. He was a member of the SWAT team for 12 years as an entry operator and sniper, eventually becoming a team leader. He served as the Defensive Tactics instructor for APD. He spent 5 years with the gangs and narcotics unit.

Later that year Preston was given the “2004 Regional Award-Case of the year for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Taskforces Western Region of the United States”. Preston retired from Law Enforcement in 2013. He began a new career in the thriving Napa Valley wine industry and took a high school varsity football coaching position.

Preston began studying Jiu-Jitsu in early 2005 under Crosley Gracie at his Brentwood, Ca. location. He eventually fell in love with the art and choose to enter tournaments as a way to test his skills, winning 1st place at the prestigious U.S. Open in 2006. Preston continued his training, but had to put a stop on his competition goals due to a work injury that kept him off the mats for a couple of years.

His passion for Jiu-Jitsu led him back to the mat as a student in 2015. He dedicated himself to getting back to his goal of achieving one of his lifelong dreams, become a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt. Preston was awarded his Brown Belt in December of 2017 and currently instructs weekly classes at our Napa location.
