Getting Started with Crosley Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Crosley Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association. Our goal is to associate with representatives who have an exemplary work ethic and who are motivated to teach the pure and highest quality techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, to men and women of all ages, athletic abilities, nationalities or creeds.

There are absolutely no monthly fees to be a part of our Association. Representative must host two seminars with Professor Crosley Gracie per year, with a minimum number of attendees set.

Upon receipt of the application, someone will contact you within ten days to verify the authenticity of your application and to collect a start up fee of $499.00 once your application is approved. This start up fee will include:

  1. Two hours of private instruction with Professor Crosley Gracie for verification of rank and technical skill (travel expenses to be covered by applicant)
  2. “The Path To The Black Belt” - By Rodrigo Gracie
  3. A package that includes an outline of the CGJJA Creed, Official CGJJA Belt System, Official IBJJF Tournament Rules & Point System and the Gracie Diet.
  4. CGJJA uniform for the instructor
  5. CGJJA large window decal (2' diameter).
  6. An official certificate showing your Affiliation with Crosley Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association, as well as a belt certificate for the main instructor. Here you will find the steps necessary to become a CGJJA accredited school. Please read the “General Requirements For Establishing An Affiliation” section in order to ensure that your Martial Arts Organization / School is eligible for membership.

General Requirements for Establishing an Affiliation

  1. Business owner and /or an instructor must have attained a minimum rank of Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from either Professor Crosley Gracie, an approved Crosley Gracie instructor and/or a reputable/verifiable Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt.
  2. Must have been ranked by or attended a group/private class or seminar taught by Professor Crosley Gracie.
  3. Have been in business for a minimum of one year (Business tax returns and or building lease agreement may be required as verification), and have a minimum of thirty full-time paying students in your school/organization.
  4. Must be well established in the community and have a reputation for being a professional organization that welcomes all men and women of all ages, athletic abilities, nationalities or creeds.
  5. There must not be an already established Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association facility within a 30-mile radius of the applicant's location.
  6. Host two seminars per year with Professor Crosley Gracie or a certified CGJJA Black Belt.
  7. Must conduct at least two instructional classes during a calendar week.
  8. Training facility must have a mat area of at least 1.000 square feet for safe live training sessions.
  9. Have business liability insurance (required as verification) and either an exercising association with a Martial Arts Billing Company and/or be willing to sign up with AAC (Affiliated Acceptance Corporation) or a billing company of your choice.

General Instructor Requirements

  1. You must be the owner or the instructor of a Martial Arts School.
  2. You must lead by example, kindness and care. Due to the incredibly profound influence a martial arts instructor has on his students, on and off the mats, living a disciplined and healthy lifestyle is a must.
  3. You shall always discipline the students and make them understand that without discipline there is no mastery, neither in Jiu-Jitsu nor in life. And that without willingness to sacrifice, excellence is just not possible.
  4. You shall reinforce that students must act with warmth and equally toward one another, regardless of their difference in race, creed, gender, nationality or religious views.
  5. You shall reinforce the family spirit among students, parents and other Instructors. Their attitude must be always positive and cooperative in order to channel their creative energy towards the strengthening and the growth of our family, always putting the team in front of individual selfish needs

Note: if you have not been ranked by professor Crosley Gracie, you must provide name and contact info for the instructor that ranked you. Professor Crosley Gracie and/or CGJJA reserve the right to contact such instructor to verify your rank, Crosley and/or CGJJA also reserve the right to not accept your rank in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in which case you will have to attain such rank from Professor Crosley Gracie in order to be considered for affiliation in the CGJJA.

IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION

  1. This application is for current school owners only, if you are a martial arts instructor please forward this to your school owner.
  2. Please complete all fields, and answer all questions as precisely as possible. Incomplete applications may adversely affect your school's eligibility for the Affiliation. You can either fax your application to (925) 634-2805 or email it to info@crosleygracie.com with "CGJJA Association Application" in the subject line.
  3. Please allow up to 10 days for a reply.
  4. Please include any questions or concerns at the bottom of the application.
  5. Upon receiving and approving your application, one of our staff members will contact you to collect the start up fee as well as to set up your visit for rank examination. You may request to view the “CGJJA Association Agreement” which we'll send you by e-mail. You must bring the form with you when coming into town.
